Sculpture in the Garden is an annual event the Auckland City Council put on in the Botanic Gardens. It runs from November to February, and showcases 23 different large scale sculptures. The one voted the most popular is bought and kept by the Gardens. Last years winner is the stunning eel.

We went to have a look. It was our first venture into the Botanic Gardens and it was a great outing. While we were there, there were many families and various groups taking advantage of the stunning day to explore the gorgeous grounds, stunning features and fabulous art works. Here is a selection of the works of art around the garden and some of the featured 23 sculptures. If you are an Aucklander thats not been, visiting the city or planning to, it is a worthy destination and a nice trip – they have a lovely cafe on the grounds, or you can take your own picnic and enjoy the surrounds.
